Title: Apotheke Candles
Brand: Apotheke
Scent: Charcoal
Burn Time: 60–70 hours
Price: APOTHEKE Charcoal candles typically range from around $12 for the Mini Tin to $84 for the 3-Wick Candle, depending on the size and retailer.
Overall Rating: 8.8/10

I wanted to try APOTHEKE Charcoal because I usually prefer candles with deeper scents rather than very sweet or floral fragrances. The black jar also caught my attention because of its simple design.

My first impression was that the fragrance is quite woody and smoky, with a little sweetness in the background. It has a noticeable character, but it doesn’t feel like a very complicated scent.

Scent & Fragrance

The scent is mainly woody and smoky, with cedarwood, guaiac wood and smoky notes. I also noticed a slight sweetness that keeps the fragrance from becoming too dry.

For me, the scent works better as an evening candle. If you prefer fresh, citrus or floral fragrances, Charcoal may feel a little too dark.

Scent Profile: Woody, Smoky, Warm, Spicy

Burn Performance

I found the candle fairly straightforward to use. The soy wax blend gives it a clean, simple appearance while burning.

I recommend keeping the wick trimmed and allowing enough time for the wax to melt evenly. The advertised burn time is around 60–70 hours, although actual burn time can vary depending on how the candle is used.

Throw / Fragrance Strength

The fragrance is noticeable once the candle is burning, but I wouldn’t describe it as extremely strong.

Cold Throw: I could notice the woody and smoky fragrance before lighting it.

Hot Throw: Once lit, the scent became more noticeable and was enough to give the room a warm fragrance without being too much for me.

Design & Packaging

I like the simple matte-black jar. It looks clean and doesn’t need much decoration to stand out.

I would be comfortable leaving it on a coffee table, shelf or bedside table even when it isn’t being used.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Woody and smoky fragrance
  • Not overly sweet
  • Simple matte-black design
  • Good fragrance presence
  • Advertised 60–70 hour burn time

Cons

  • The price is relatively high
  • The darker fragrance won’t suit everyone
  • Not the best choice if you prefer fresh or floral scents

Who Is It Best For?

I would recommend this candle to people who enjoy woody, smoky and warm fragrances.

For me, it’s more suitable for evenings and relaxing spaces than for someone looking for a light, fresh everyday scent.

Conclusion

I liked APOTHEKE Charcoal mainly because of its woody and smoky fragrance and simple design. It isn’t a candle I would recommend to everyone because the scent has a darker character, but if that’s the type of fragrance you enjoy, it is worth considering.
