Capri Blue Coconut Santal Candle Review

Introduction

Capri Blue Coconut Santal is a warm, tropical fragrance built around coconut, lime and amber, with flowering hibiscus also included in Capri Blue’s fragrance description. The combination gives the candle a beach-inspired character without making it purely a sweet coconut scent.

My first impression is that Coconut Santal is more about a smooth tropical atmosphere than a strong, sugary coconut fragrance. The lime adds some freshness, while the coconut and amber give the fragrance a warmer side.

For me, this would appeal more to someone who enjoys tropical fragrances with some warmth rather than someone looking for a very fresh citrus candle.

Scent & Fragrance

Capri Blue describes Coconut Santal with flowering hibiscus, lime, coconut and amber. The brand currently places the fragrance in its Bohemian/Woodsy family.

The coconut is the part that gives the candle its tropical character, but the lime prevents the fragrance from feeling completely heavy or creamy. The amber adds warmth underneath the brighter notes.

I would describe the overall fragrance as:

It is not a straightforward fresh coconut scent. One independent reviewer who tested the candle also found the coconut more tropical than fresh and felt that the fragrance was softer than Volcano.

Burn Performance

Capri Blue currently lists the 19 oz Signature Coconut Santal candle with a burn time of up to 85 hours. The smaller 8 oz Petite version is listed at up to 40 hours. These are manufacturer’s maximum burn-time figures rather than a guaranteed result from every candle.

Capri Blue recommends following its candle-care instructions, including proper wick trimming and allowing the wax to melt appropriately during each burn.

Independent testing has raised some concerns about the burn. One reviewer reported that the wide vessel could require extra attention to achieve an even melt and mentioned using foil during burns. That same reviewer also noted that the candle could produce some soot if the wick was not trimmed.

If you prefer very strong fragrances that quickly fill a large room, I would be more cautious about choosing this one because customer experiences with the hot throw are mixed.

Final Verdict

Coconut Santal has an appealing combination of coconut, lime, hibiscus and amber that gives it a tropical character with some warmth underneath.

What I like most about the fragrance profile is that it isn’t simply a sweet coconut scent. The lime gives it some freshness, while the amber makes it warmer and more suitable for relaxing spaces.

The main weakness is the inconsistency reported around fragrance throw and burn performance. For that reason, I would not recommend buying it solely because you expect a very strong room-filling scent.
