Capri Blue Aloha Orchid Candle Review

Introduction

Capri Blue Aloha Orchid is a distinctly floral candle with notes of orchid, jasmine and gardenia. Capri Blue describes it as a bold floral fragrance, and the brand also includes floral musk in some of its current Aloha Orchid descriptions.

My first impression is that Aloha Orchid is much more floral than Capri Blue’s fresher or woodier fragrances. The combination of jasmine, gardenia and orchid gives it a noticeable floral character, so I would choose this one when I specifically want a floral scent in the room.

For me, this isn’t the safest choice for someone who doesn’t normally enjoy floral fragrances. If you like jasmine and gardenia, though, the fragrance profile is much easier to appreciate.

Scent & Fragrance

Capri Blue lists orchid, jasmine and gardenia as the main notes, with floral musk also included in the current Pattern Play version.

I would describe Aloha Orchid as:

The jasmine and gardenia give the fragrance its strongest floral character, while the orchid adds a softer tropical feel.

One thing I noticed from independent testing is that the fragrance may not always smell exactly as expected from the name. One reviewer found a noticeable smoky character alongside the floral scent and felt the floral side was less prominent than expected.

That is worth mentioning because fragrance perception is personal. If you’re specifically buying Aloha Orchid because you want a straightforward fresh-flower scent, the actual experience may be somewhat different depending on the candle and how it burns.

Burn Performance

For the 19 oz Signature candle, Capri Blue lists a burn time of up to 85 hours. The 8 oz Petite version is listed at up to 40 hours, while the 3 oz Mini Tin is listed at up to 15 hours.

These are manufacturer’s maximum burn-time figures, so I would not present 85 hours as the actual burn time every customer will get.

Capri Blue recommends following its candle-care instructions to achieve the best burn. Independent feedback is mixed. One reviewer reported no problems with soot or smoking but noticed that a significant amount of wax remained around the sides toward the end of the candle.

There are also customer reports of wick and burning problems. One customer reported that the wick went out shortly after lighting, while another reported a candle burning straight down instead of melting evenly across the surface.

Because of these reports, I would pay attention to wick trimming and the size of the melt pool rather than assuming every Aloha Orchid candle will burn perfectly.

The classic Aloha Orchid Signature Candle comes in Capri Blue’s recognizable cobalt-blue glass vessel. The 19 oz version has the brand’s familiar Signature silhouette and a lid.

I like the simplicity of the blue container. It gives the candle a decorative appearance without needing a complicated design, and the color works particularly well with the floral character of Aloha Orchid.

Capri Blue also sells Aloha Orchid in several other vessels, including patterned, marble and mercury-finish versions, so the exact appearance depends on which version you purchase.

For a classic Capri Blue look, I would choose the traditional blue Signature jar.

I would be more cautious about recommending it to someone who normally avoids floral or perfume-like candles. The floral character is an important part of what makes Aloha Orchid different from Capri Blue’s other popular scents.

Final Verdict

Aloha Orchid is a distinctly floral Capri Blue fragrance built around orchid, jasmine and gardenia.

What I like about it is that it has a clear identity. This isn’t a candle where the floral notes are barely noticeable. If you enjoy floral fragrances, Aloha Orchid gives you that character much more directly.

The main weakness is consistency. Customer experiences with the hot throw and burning behavior vary, so I wouldn’t choose it expecting guaranteed strong fragrance or a completely trouble-free burn.
