I found Cire Trudon Abd El Kader to be a different take on a mint candle. Instead of smelling simply fresh or sweet, it combines mint with tea-like, citrus and lightly spicy notes. The overall scent feels fresh but has enough warmth to keep it from becoming too simple.
For me, the main appeal is the balance between the fresh mint character and the warmer notes underneath it. It is a candle I would consider for someone who enjoys herbal and fresh fragrances but wants something with a little more depth.
Scent & Fragrance
The first thing I notice about Abd El Kader is the mint. It has a fresh, green character, but I don’t find it to be purely minty. The citrus and spice notes add some brightness and warmth, while the tea-inspired character gives the fragrance a more distinctive feel.
Trudon’s listed fragrance notes are blackcurrant bud, lemon, clove, ginger, mint and apple as the head notes, jasmine as the heart note, and vanilla as the base note.
For me, the overall profile sits between fresh, herbal, citrusy and lightly spicy, rather than being a strongly sweet fragrance.
Burn Performance
The Classic version is a 270 g / 9.5 oz candle, and Trudon gives it an estimated burn time of 55–60 hours.
During my use, I paid attention to how the wax melted and how the wick behaved rather than judging the candle only by its fragrance. The important thing with this type of candle is giving the wax enough time to melt across the surface during a burn.
I would not describe the burn performance as a reason to buy this candle on its own. For me, the fragrance is the more important part of the experience.
Throw / Fragrance Strength
Cold Throw: Before lighting, I can pick up the fresh character of the fragrance, although it is not a scent that I would describe as extremely strong from a distance.
Hot Throw: Once burning, the fragrance becomes more noticeable and the mint, herbal and warmer notes come together more clearly. I found the scent easier to appreciate when the candle was lit because the different elements became more apparent.
The throw is worth considering if you prefer very strong room-filling candles. For me, Abd El Kader works better as a noticeable fragrance rather than something that overwhelms the room.
Design & Packaging
The Classic Abd El Kader comes in Trudon’s recognizable green glass vessel with the brand’s traditional presentation. The design is understated enough to fit into different spaces, while the distinctive vessel makes it easy to recognize as a Trudon candle.
I like the appearance because it works as part of the room even when it is not burning. The presentation also feels consistent with the price point, although the high cost is something I would definitely consider before buying.

Conclusion
Overall, I liked Cire Trudon Abd El Kader mainly for its distinctive fragrance. The combination of mint, citrus, spice and tea-like character gives it more personality than a straightforward fresh candle.
The price is the main drawback for me, so I would not recommend it simply because it is a Trudon candle. If you genuinely enjoy this type of fragrance, though, I think the scent is the strongest reason to consider it.
