Cire Trudon Gabriel Candle Review: A Warm, Cozy Luxury Candle
Cire Trudon Gabriel is a candle I would reach for when I want something warm, comforting and sophisticated. Compared with some of the darker Trudon fragrances, Gabriel has a softer and more inviting character, combining woody notes with a subtle sweetness.
The fragrance reminds me of the atmosphere around a warm fireplace on a chilly evening. I get a mixture of woods, chestnut, musk and moss, with a slightly creamy quality that makes the fragrance feel cozy rather than sharp.
For me, Gabriel is one of those candles that works particularly well when I want the room to feel comfortable and relaxed without using a very sweet gourmand candle.

Scent & Fragrance
Gabriel has a warm, woody fragrance with a gentle sweetness.
When I smell it, the first thing I notice is the combination of wood and chestnut. The chestnut gives the fragrance a slightly sweet, almost roasted quality, while the birch wood keeps it grounded and woody.
As the fragrance develops, I notice the cashmere wood and moss more. These notes give Gabriel a soft, rounded character rather than making it smell like a straightforward wood-burning fireplace.
The cedarwood, musk and patchouli underneath add more depth without making the fragrance feel too dark.
What I like most about Gabriel is the balance. It has sweetness, but I wouldn’t describe it as a typical sugary gourmand. It has enough woody and earthy character to keep the fragrance sophisticated.
If you enjoy warm woods, soft sweetness and cozy fireplace-inspired fragrances, Gabriel is definitely one I would consider.
Burn Performance
I used Gabriel with the same basic care I use with my other premium candles: allowing the wax to melt evenly and keeping the wick trimmed between burns.
The Classic Gabriel is 270 g, and Trudon lists an approximate burning time of 55–60 hours for this size.
For the best experience, I wouldn’t rush the first burn. Allowing the surface to melt evenly helps establish a more consistent burn pattern.
I also recommend trimming the wick before subsequent burns. This helps keep the flame under control and can reduce the chance of soot developing around the vessel.
Throw / Fragrance Strength
I would describe Gabriel’s fragrance strength as medium.
The scent is noticeable when the candle is burning, but I don’t find it as aggressive or room-filling as some of the stronger luxury candles I’ve tried.
That actually works well for Gabriel’s personality. Its warm and cozy character feels more suited to creating an atmosphere than dominating the entire room.
I particularly like it in a bedroom, reading area or medium-sized living room where the fragrance can develop gradually.
If you have a very large open-plan room and want an extremely powerful throw, Gabriel may feel a little too subtle for your preference.
Design & Packaging
The presentation is exactly what I would expect from a Cire Trudon candle.
The classic Gabriel comes in Trudon’s recognizable green glass vessel with the gold emblem. The design feels elegant and distinctive without looking overly modern or flashy.
I also like how the vessel looks when the candle is lit. The warm flame works beautifully with the dark green glass and gives the candle a cozy appearance.
It is the kind of candle I would be happy to leave on display even when it isn’t burning.

Cire Trudon Gabriel is a beautifully balanced luxury candle with a warm, woody and comforting personality.
What stands out to me is the way the chestnut and woody notes work together. The fragrance has a cozy sweetness, but the moss, cedarwood and patchouli keep it from becoming too dessert-like.
