Cire Trudon Maduraï Candle Review: Is This Jasmine Candle Worth It?
Cire Trudon Maduraï is a very different experience from the darker, warmer fragrances in the Trudon collection. Instead of leather, tobacco or heavy woods, Maduraï focuses on the beauty of jasmine, creating a soft and elegant floral atmosphere.
When I first experience this candle, the jasmine is immediately the main character. The fragrance has a clean floral quality, but it doesn’t feel like a simple room freshener. The ylang-ylang adds a little richness, while the benzoin underneath gives the fragrance warmth and prevents the floral notes from feeling too sharp.
For me, Maduraï is the Cire Trudon candle I would choose when I want something feminine, elegant and floral without going overly sweet.

The fragrance is built around Sambac jasmine, with ylang-ylang and benzoin resin supporting it. Trudon describes Maduraï as an exploration of the jasmine tradition associated with India.
The jasmine is definitely the first thing I notice.
I find it soft and expressive rather than aggressively floral. There is a natural sweetness to it, but I don’t get the heavy, sugary feeling that some jasmine fragrances can have.
The ylang-ylang adds another floral layer and gives the opening a slightly creamy quality. As the fragrance settles, the benzoin brings warmth underneath the flowers.
What I particularly like is that Maduraï doesn’t try to hide the jasmine behind a long list of competing notes. The fragrance has a clear identity.
If you love jasmine, this is the kind of candle where the main note is easy to appreciate.
Burn Performance
I like to treat Maduraï as a candle that needs a little care rather than simply lighting it and forgetting about it.
For the first burn, I would allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface. I also keep the wick trimmed before subsequent burns to help maintain a steady flame.
The Classic version is 270 g, with current retailer listings giving an approximate burn time of around 55–65 hours.
As with my other luxury candle reviews, I wouldn’t judge the candle purely by its advertised burn time. How long it actually lasts can depend on how long each burn is, wick maintenance and the way the candle is used.
Throw / Fragrance Strength
I would describe Maduraï as having a medium fragrance strength.
The jasmine is noticeable when the candle is burning, but I don’t find it unnecessarily overpowering. That makes it easier to use when I want a floral fragrance in the background rather than one that completely takes over the room.
In a smaller or medium-sized room, I find this type of fragrance particularly pleasant.
If you prefer very powerful candles that fill a large open-plan space quickly, Maduraï may feel more restrained than what you’re looking for.
But if you enjoy a softer floral atmosphere, I think its level of fragrance works well.
Design & Packaging
The presentation is one of the reasons Cire Trudon candles feel so special.
Maduraï is presented in the brand’s distinctive hand-crafted glass vessel, finished with the recognizable Trudon emblem. Current listings show the Maduraï Classic in a deep blue/navy-toned vessel, which gives it a particularly elegant appearance.
I think the blue glass works especially well with the personality of the fragrance. It feels sophisticated rather than overly decorative.
Even when the candle isn’t burning, the vessel looks like something I would happily keep on a bedside table, console or shelf.

I also think it would make a lovely choice for someone who wants a luxury candle as a gift. The combination of the floral fragrance and beautiful blue vessel makes it feel special without being tied to a particular season.
If you normally choose tobacco, leather, oud or smoky fragrances, Maduraï may feel much lighter than your usual preference.
Final Verdict
Cire Trudon Maduraï is a beautiful choice if jasmine is one of your favorite fragrance notes.
What I like most about it is its simplicity. The fragrance has a clear floral identity, with Sambac jasmine taking center stage while ylang-ylang and benzoin give it additional softness and warmth.
It doesn’t have the dark, dramatic character of something like Ernesto, nor the cozy fireplace feeling of Gabriel. Instead, Maduraï creates a lighter and more elegant atmosphere.
The price is its biggest drawback, but for someone who appreciates luxury candles and particularly enjoys jasmine, I think Maduraï is one of the Cire Trudon fragrances worth considering.
