Boy Smells KUSH has a fragrance profile that stands out from typical sweet or fruity candles. My first impression is that it leans more toward green, herbal and slightly earthy notes, with a floral element that keeps the scent from feeling too heavy.

Burn Performance
The current KUSH candle uses Boy Smells’ updated soy-blend wax and has an estimated 50+ hour burn time. The brand recommends trimming the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn, allowing the entire wax surface to melt during the first burn, and keeping individual burns to no more than four hours.
During my use, I paid attention to how the wax melted and how the wick behaved rather than judging the candle only by its fragrance.
I would not describe the burn performance as the main reason to buy KUSH. For me, the unusual fragrance profile is what makes this candle more interesting.
Throw / Fragrance Strength
Cold Throw: Before lighting, the green and herbal character is noticeable. I can get an idea of the fragrance without needing to burn the candle, although the different notes become easier to distinguish once it is lit.
Hot Throw: While burning, the fragrance becomes more developed, with the green and floral notes working together with the warmer suede and amber character.
For me, KUSH is better suited to someone who enjoys a noticeable but more nuanced fragrance rather than a very sweet candle that immediately fills the room with one dominant note.
Design & Packaging
The KUSH candle has the simple, recognizable Boy Smells glass-vessel design. The current candle uses a dark glass vessel with the brand’s minimalist labeling, which gives it a relatively understated appearance.
I like that the design doesn’t draw too much attention when placed in a room. It can work as décor without looking overly decorative, and the glass vessel can also be reused after the candle has finished burning. Boy Smells specifically suggests reusing the vessel as a vase, pencil holder or container.
